Judd Returns to Share his Knowledge With Us
Wheatbelt Natural Resource Management Notices
Judd, a Project Officer at Wheatbelt NRM, started with us way back in 2011 as a 16 year old school-based Trainee. His Grandfather, elder Kevin Davis was part of our Aboriginal Advisory Group. Judd remembers the wisdom and knowledge his grandfather shared with him whenever he took him out bush, showing him the roles that both animals and plants hold in the ecosystem and how they work in unity.
After 2 years with us, Judd moved back to Wyalkatchem and then re-joined us in 2018 and then again in May 2021. Most recently, he gained the role of Project Delivery Officer due to his plant knowledge of the Wheatbelt. Judd shares both his traditional and scientific knowledge as he leads our team of Noongar Boodja Rangers on native seed collection and revegetation projects.
“Combining both science and traditional Noongar knowledge to our approach and realising we have to give back, we can’t always be taking.” is what Judd says he enjoys most about his role at Wheatbelt NRM.
We are all really proud of the fine young leader Judd has become and want to wish him all the best for his wedding this weekend.
You can watch more about Judd and our rangers here on this presentation which was filmed for the recent Future Drought Fund Science to Practice Forum held in Canberra. The video clearly shows Judd’s passion for what he and our other Rangers are doing in the space of seed collection, revegetation and healing Country.
